18+ servers and worlds

NodeWorld knows a player's age from the date of birth they declare when they switch on 18+ content (it is never asked at sign-up, see 18+ content). A place marked 18+ is closed to players under 18 and to players who never declared their date of birth.

What can be 18+

  • Your whole server: on the website, open My servers, then your server, and switch on 18+ server. Every world and every instance on it is then 18+. When NodeWorld's admins marked it, the switch says Marked 18+ by NodeWorld and stays on.
  • A world: its creator declares it 18+ when publishing it (18+ world in the World Publisher); its signed manifest.json then says "adult": true, and your server tells NodeWorld with each heartbeat.
  • An instance: the player who starts it can make it 18+. You cannot refuse 18+ instances on your server.

NodeWorld's admins can also mark a server, a world or an instance 18+ themselves.

Minors are refused at the door

A player under 18, or without a declared date of birth, is refused twice:

  • by NodeWorld, which does not let them join an 18+ server, world or instance, nor sign in on an 18+ server;
  • by your server itself, which checks the player's age again when they enter an 18+ instance.

The player sees This place is for adults only (18+). on the loading screen. Adults who declared their date of birth and then switched 18+ content off can still come in: they just do not see 18+ places in Explore.
