Install on Windows

You need Windows 10 or 11, or Windows Server, 64-bit. Nothing else to install.

  1. Right-click NodeWorld-Server-win-x64.zip, then Extract All, into a folder that stays (C:\NodeWorld-Server, for example).
  2. Open the NodeWorld-Server folder and double-click NodeWorld.Server.exe, or start it from a terminal:
powershell
cd C:\NodeWorld-Server\NodeWorld-Server
.\NodeWorld.Server.exe
  1. The first start runs the setup assistant in that window: paste the Server ID and the token (right-click pastes), keep the public address it finds, and let it open the port on your router and test it.
  2. To its last question, answer y: the server becomes a Windows service, started with the PC and again after each update. Windows asks for administrator rights: choose Yes. The service also opens the port in Windows Defender Firewall (run as a service).
  3. Copy your worlds into Config\Worlds, then restart the service: in a PowerShell as administrator, Restart-Service NodeWorldServer.

Without the service, the server runs in its window and stops with Ctrl+C. When Windows asks whether to let it use the network, allow it: Windows then opens the port in its firewall for the server. If you missed that window, open the port yourself (ports and firewall).
