Blocks, kicks and bans
Block a player
When you block a player, in the game or on the website, it works both ways, like in VRChat:
- you no longer see nor hear each other: the server stops sending you their avatar, their moves and their voice, and them yours, even in the same instance;
- you no longer get their messages, friend requests, invites or invite requests;
- if you were friends, you are no longer friends.
The blocked player is never told: for them, you just are not there. Unblock them and you see and hear each other again, at once.
A block made on the website while you play applies in the game straight away.
On the website, open the player's profile, choose the More button (the three dots), then Block, and confirm. If you are friends, the window says so first: blocking also removes them from your friends. The profile then shows Blocked and Unblock. Settings > Blocked players lists everyone you blocked, each with Unblock.
In the game, choose Block on the player's card (click their nametag) or in the ... button of their profile, then
confirm. Their profile then shows Unblock. Settings > Privacy > Blocked players lists everyone you
blocked, each with Unblock: unblocking happens at once.
Report a player, a picture, a world or a server
On the website, choose Report in the More menu (the three dots) of a player's profile, a world, a server or an avatar:
- On a profile, a world or a server that has a picture, What do you report? lets you report the picture instead: Their profile picture, Its picture or Its cover. On an avatar, you report its picture.
- Choose a Reason: Harassment, Hate speech, Sexual content, Violence or threats, Spam, Cheating, Underage player (under 13, or a minor in an 18+ place) or Something else.
- If you want, say what happened and choose Add a screenshot.
- Choose Send report.
The report reaches the NodeWorld team with where it happened. Only the NodeWorld team sees reports. The team can hide or delete what you reported, or ban its owner.
In the game
Choose Report on a player's card or in the ... button of their profile, in the ... button of the World page
or of a world on a server's page, or the flag button next to Favorite on a server's page. In Messages, the flag
button at the top of a conversation reports the player with its last messages; to report an image they sent you, open
it and choose Report this image (see Messages). The report window opens:
- Choose a Reason, from the same list as on the website.
- If you want, say what happened in Comment.
- Choose Report.
When the window opens, the game takes a screenshot of what you see, without the menu: Screenshot attached shows it. It goes with the report, along with where you are (world, instance, players there). Report sent to the NodeWorld team. confirms it. After 10 reports in 10 minutes: Too many reports in a row. Try again in a few minutes.
Sent home by the owner of an instance
The player who started an instance can kick you out of it. You go back to your home world, and a window says The owner of the instance sent you home. You can go back. You can join the instance again.
Banned from a server
The owner of a server and its co-owners can ban you from it, for good. You go back to your home world, and a window says You are banned from this server. From then on, NodeWorld does not let you join that server: the loading screen says You are banned from this server.
Refused at the door
The loading screen says why a server does not let you in:
- This place is for adults only (18+).: the server, the world or the instance is 18+ and you are under 18, or you have not declared your date of birth (see 18+ content);
- Your NodeWorld account is suspended.: NodeWorld suspended your account.
You can always leave
Whatever a world does, you can open the menu, respawn and go:
Yon the left controller andEscon the keyboard always open the menu. A world never sees them, norTab,PorShift+R. A world that keeps the keyboard in one of its text fields does not stopEsc: it leaves the field and opens the menu.- The menu, its windows, the notifications, the keyboard and the microphone icon are drawn in front of everything in the world and take your clicks first: a wall, a screen or a panel a world puts in front of them does not hide them. With keyboard and mouse, the menu stays above anything a world shows on your screen.
- A world that holds you still, pushes you or teleports you does not take the menu away: it stays in front of you.
- Respawn, on the bottom bar or with
Shift+R, takes you back to the world's spawn point and gives you back your own moves: if the world held you still, changed your speed or your gravity, or sat you down, that is undone. - Go to my home world, in the
...button of the Home and World pages, takes you out of the world. Nothing the world did to you follows you.
If a world's scripts get stuck, the game freezes for at most 10 seconds (60 seconds while the world loads), then stops them: the world stays, This world's scripts were stuck for 10 s: they are stopped. shows, and the menu answers again. A world's work running in the background never freezes the game.
