Messages

Open Messages from the bottom bar of the menu; its number is how many messages you have not read. The same conversations are on the website, at app.nodeworldvr.com.

Chats

Your conversations on the left, the unread ones in bold with their number. Choose one to open it on the right: the latest messages at the bottom, with their time, and is typing while the other player writes.

Write in the field at the bottom. The emoji button opens the emoji picker (Recently used, Smileys & emotion, People & body and the other groups). In VR, the VR keyboard opens when you press the trigger on the field. With keyboard and mouse, Enter sends and the keys only type while you write.

To start a conversation, choose Message on a friend's card in Friends or on a profile.

Requests

Friends always write to each other directly. A message from a player who is not your friend arrives in Requests: Accept opens the conversation, Decline refuses it. Answering their message accepts it too.

Images

You can send an image in a conversation, with or without text:

  • in the game, one of your photos, taken with the camera;
  • on the website, any image from your device: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF, up to 16 MB.

Images only go into accepted conversations: with a friend, or once a request was accepted. A request is text only. Nothing goes between you and a player you blocked or who blocked you.

NodeWorld sends a lighter copy of your image: at most 2048 pixels on its longest side, as a JPEG, upright. Everything hidden in the file is removed: camera, place, date, and the details the game writes in its photos (world, instance, players present). An animated GIF arrives as its first image.

You can send up to 10 images a minute and 100 a day.

In the game, the image button next to the emoji button opens your photos in the Gallery: choose one, then Send to and the player's name. The button only shows in accepted conversations. Images show in the conversation at their own shape.

Choose an image of the conversation, one of yours too, to see it larger in a window of the menu. On an image the other player sent, Report this image opens its report; Close closes the window. With keyboard and mouse, Esc closes it and the menu stays open.

On the website, the image button of a conversation window is Add an image; you can also paste an image in the message field. The image shows above the field: send it with Send, with the text you typed, or take it off with Remove the image. Choose an image in the conversation to see it larger.

What is kept and what is erased

  • Messages and images stay as long as the conversation exists. Only the two of you can see its images.
  • Delete chat removes the conversation from your list, in the game and on the website. The other player keeps it until they delete it too. If they write to you again, it comes back with the new messages only.
  • Once both of you have deleted it, its messages and images are erased for good.
  • When you report a player or an image from a conversation, its last 50 messages and their images are kept with the report for the NodeWorld team, even if the conversation is deleted afterwards.
  • When the NodeWorld team removes an image after a report, its message stays and shows Image removed.

In the game, Delete chat is the bin button at the top of the open conversation; it asks first. Next to it, the flag button reports the player with the last messages of the conversation (see Report). To report an image they sent you, open it and choose Report this image.

On the website, Delete chat and Report (the player, with the conversation) are in the More menu (the three dots) of the conversation window; Delete chat asks first. To report an image you received, open it and choose Report this image.
