Sites a world contacts
A world can use the internet: load the list of its supporters, show live scores, chat with a service, put an image or a video on a screen. Before it contacts a site for the first time, NodeWorld asks you. The game's own connections (your account, the avatars, the servers) are never asked.
The window
A window comes in front of you: ExampleWorld wants to contact example.com. Choose:
- Always: the world can contact this site, and so can every other world, until you remove it in Settings, Sites.
- This time: allowed until you leave the world.
- Deny: refused, for every world, until you remove it in Settings, Sites.
The choice is for the whole site: allowing example.com also allows api.example.com and www.example.com. A site with a port of its own is a site apart: example.com:8443.
The cross only closes the window. Until you answer, the question stays in Notifications, under Site requests, with the same three buttons, and what the world asked waits. Leaving the world drops it.
With keyboard and mouse, the window shows in the top right corner of your screen (Tab shows the pointer).
An address of your network
When a world asks for an address of your own network, the window says so: A device on your network (router, NAS…). Allow it only if you know why the world needs it. A site name that leads to your network is always refused, without a window.
Videos
Videos from youtube.com, youtu.be, twitch.tv, vimeo.com, soundcloud.com and dailymotion.com play without asking. A video from another site asks first, with the same window.
In Settings
Settings, Sites:
- Allowed and denied: the sites you chose Always or Deny for, each with Remove. The next time a world contacts a removed site, the window asks again.
- Video sites: the sites whose videos play without asking, each with Remove. Type a site in the field and choose Add to add one.
Your choices are kept on this device, for every world: they don't follow your account to another headset or PC.
