Portals

A portal is a door to an instance of a world, on this server or another one. Go through it and the game takes you there, as when you join from the menu.

Go through a portal

In VR, point at the portal and press the trigger or the grip. With keyboard and mouse, look at it and left click. The portal's card dips while the server answers, then the loading screen shows.

Who can go through a portal is who can join its instance (see Who can join).

What a portal shows

  • the picture of the world and its name;
  • the name of its server, with the server's cover;
  • who can join the instance: Open, Social, Friends, Invite or Hidden;
  • Created by and the name of the player who owns that instance;
  • on a portal a player dropped, the time it has left.

Drop a portal

In the New instance window (on a server's page or on the World page), choose Drop portal: a portal to your new instance stands on the ground in front of you, facing you, for everyone in your instance. When a wall is in the way it comes closer; with no room or no ground there, the window says No room for a portal here.

A dropped portal stays 30 seconds, and each player who goes through it gives it 15 seconds more. Then it disappears. The portals a world puts in its scenery stay as long as the world.

An 18+ instance cannot be reached through a dropped portal: Drop portal is not available with 18+ instance.
