AI assistants and MCP

An AI assistant can read this documentation through its MCP server, at https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard assistants use to call the tools of another service. Add the address to your assistant once; it then looks up NodeWorld in these pages, in English or in French, and answers with their addresses.

The server only reads this documentation and its changelogs. It needs no account, no key and no sign-in, it changes nothing, and there is nothing to install: it is a remote server over Streamable HTTP.

What the assistant can do

  • search_docs: searches every page (titles, headings and text) and returns the best ones, with their path, their address and a short extract.
  • read_page: returns one page as Markdown, with its links as full addresses. It takes the path that search_docs or list_pages gives (players/install/quest) or the page's address.
  • list_pages: lists the pages in the order of the site's navigation, each with its path, its title and one line about it, all of them or those of one section (hosting, creators/flux).
  • search_flux_api: searches the FL# scripting API of the worlds (its types and members, from the reference generated from the code): signature, summary and reference page of each match.
  • read_changelog: what changed in the game (client), the server (server) or the SDK (sdk), version by version, newest first.

Each tool, except search_flux_api (the reference is in English), takes the language of the pages: en or fr.

Add it to your assistant

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

From Anthropic's page on custom connectors:

  1. Open Customize > Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it (NodeWorld docs), paste https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp as the remote MCP server URL, and click Continue.
  4. Under Authentication, choose No sign in, then click Add.

Turn it on in a conversation with the + button at the bottom left of the message box, then Connectors. On the Free plan you can add one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it first in Organization settings > Connectors.

Claude Code

From Claude Code's MCP page, in a terminal:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http nodeworld-docs https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp

ChatGPT desktop app and Codex

From OpenAI's MCP page. The ChatGPT desktop app, the Codex CLI and the Codex IDE extension share the same list of MCP servers.

In the ChatGPT desktop app: open Settings, then MCP servers, and choose Add server. Enter a name, choose Streamable HTTP, paste https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp, save, then choose Restart.

With the Codex CLI:

bash
codex mcp add nodeworld-docs --url https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp

Or in ~/.codex/config.toml:

toml
[mcp_servers.nodeworld-docs]
url = "https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp"

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

From VS Code's page on MCP servers:

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P) and run MCP: Add Server.
  2. Choose HTTP (HTTP or Server-Sent Events) and paste https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp.
  3. Enter a server ID: nodeworld-docs.
  4. Choose Global, then Copilot Global, to have it in every workspace.

Cursor

From Cursor's MCP page: put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or in .cursor/mcp.json of one project.

json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "nodeworld-docs": {
      "url": "https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Another assistant

Any assistant that accepts a remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP works the same way: give it https://docs.nodeworldvr.com/mcp, with no key and no sign-in.

Copy a page or download every page

  • Copy content, at the top of each page, copies the page as Markdown: its title, then its text, with its links as full addresses. Paste it into an assistant, a note or a message.
  • Download all (.zip), at the top of the site, downloads every page of the language as .md files, in the folders of the site's sections, with the FL# and SDK reference (in English). The links between the pages work in the files too.
